This album was recorded entirely with a Behringer Deepmind 6 as the only sound source, with a little assistance from an Electro Harmonix Holy Stain. Recording and post production was done in Reason.

This album is inspired by Doom Metal and the works of Bruce Sterling (more specifically the book Schismatrix Plus) and even though I wrote the music inspired by an imagined future and the imagined radical societies in that future, I wrote the music for the future we're in now and the radical societies that are springing up everywhere in response. This is the future those cyberpunk nerds were writing about all along, a golden age of accessible information tech, jail-broken pocket computers and open source operating systems, encrypted texting apps and communication tech that makes radical movement and culture possible in a way it never was before, and opens up greater avenues of visibility to the most marginalized. Trans folks, queer folks, POC, Body-mod heavy transhumanists who claim their bodies for themselves. But this is also the golden age of bizarre corporate appropriation where the Twitter accounts of fast food companies pretend to be suicidal for the media blast while people are kept in cages under a Texas freeway in for-profit prison camps.
But! But we still have power! In Tucson Arizona an all-inclusive noise symposium revels in the fringes of what's possible in music and hosts live-streamed panels discussing the intersection of gender and the music industry. In Greenfield Massachusetts a collective of trans folks have crowd-funded to re-rehabilitate a dilapidated mansion and have turned it into a safe haven for trans and queer artists, teachers, and organizers. In New Orleans Louisiana practitioners of Voodoo hold festivals openly in the streets inviting anyone who passes to participate and learn about the community that allows them to thrive.
These are the radical societies the science fiction authors of last century were dreaming about, and as information tech becomes more ubiquitous, it allows us to keep our societies underground. This is what inspires me the most.
Our future is radical community, it's queer, it's transhumanist, it's open source and free for everyone.
