After losing their friend and mentor, a lost soul discovers a machine that allows them to enter a kind of afterlife made from a collection of deceased minds interconnected by a vast mycelium network.

This album marks a period of transition for my work. As always my music is very much inspired by Coil, and in much the same way that their art transitioned from an energetic "Solar" phase into a slow, dreamlike "Lunar" phase, I've found that my more structured and tonal "Extra-solar" phase, exemplified by albums such as "The Wyrd" is coming to a natural conclusion. Beginning here with "Death Mycelium" I'm entering what I think of as my "Subterranean" phase; subdued, drone heavy, dissonant, and ultimately more free. In creating this album I stepped away from the brighter synthesizer work from previous albums and more towards atmosphere created by improvised drones and heavily processed field recordings and samples to illustrate a journey through grief and denial, and ultimately towards the realization that acceptance isn't a singular moment but rather an ongoing state that requires constant actualization.
