The rigors of capitalism keep us in a constant state of having to struggle, produce, and survive. It gets hard to find the time to breath and rest and focus on the things you need to be well. I wrote this album as a celebration of the mundane moments in life where we find the space to care about ourselves and those close to us. My aim was to create music that would serve as a deep listening experience, or equally well as something to put on while you make breakfast. I recycled the sounds of old and ailing recording mediums, sometimes by re-recording sections of a song onto an old tape to get more texture and sometimes by re-purposing the clicks and pops of aged recordings to create a gentle rhythm. This was done not to give the impression that the recordings are older than they really are, but as a sort of Brechtian acknowledgement that the recordings are a kind of fiction so that you, the listener, can enjoy it and then let it go when you're done.
